HISTORY

Peck was built in 1966 and is named for Homer N. Peck, superintendent of schools in Arvada from 1931 to 1941.

Peck's school flag, designed by a former student, features a Rocky Mountain big horn sheep and a Colorado columbine.

HOMER PECK

Born in Lost Springs, Kansas on January 27, 1889, Homer Peck grew up in Arlington, Iowa. In 1915, he graduated from Drake University and then received his master's degree from Colorado State College at Greeley. He was a civilian weapons instructor at Buckley Field during World War II. Peck was Superintendent of Arvada schools from 1931 to 1941. He was part owner of the Arvada Square shopping center and was actively engaged in real estate investment at the time of his death. He was a member of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Arvada, and Sangre de Cristo Chapter No. 2 of Rose Croix.  Mr. Peck died May 20, 1962 and is buried in the Arvada Cemetery.
